Fostering Student Achievement and Sustainable Communities Through Place-based Learning.

Promise of Place Conference

"The conference exceeded my expectations and goals. It was a wonderful networking opportunity. It both affirmed the work I already do and challenged me to think about ways that I can improve the educational programs that I run." - POP 2007 Participant

Since 2001, spring in the Northeast heralds the arrival of muddy roads and a three day conference dedicated to place-based education. Promise of Place 2007, held in Fairlee, Vermont, March 15 - 17, brought together close to 250 novice and expert place-based education practitioners from the Northeast and beyond. Participants took part in over forty workshops, and Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods, was the keynote speaker. To check out the full conference agenda, take a look at the conference brochure.

"I have been to many conferences, but I can count on one hand the ones that have been meaningful beginning to end. This was definitely one of them." - POP 2007 Participant

"Overall this was a wonderful experience.  I not only learned so much, it changed the way I think, look and learn... I am already approaching life in a better way!"   - POP 2007 Participant
