About Us
The Promise of Place web site is a project of:
Center for Place-based Learning and Community Engagement
A unique public private partnership that works to advance the state of the art in place-based education by facilitating collaborative efforts in research, program design, techical assistance, resource development and dissemination. The Center Partners are:
- Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park
- National Park Service Conservation Study Institute
- Shelburne Farms
In collaboration with:
Place-based Education and Evaluation Collaborative (PEEC)
A unique partnership of several nonprofit organizations and projects from New England and beyond whose aim is to strengthen and deepen the practice place-based education initiatives through program evaluation. The PEEC Partners are:
- The CO-SEED Project (Antioch New England Institute)
- A Forest For Every Classroom (FFEC) (National Wildlife Federation, US Forest Service, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, National Park Service Conservation Study Institute and Shelburne Farms)
- The Litzsinger Road Ecology Center (LREC) (Missouri Botanical Gardens)
- The Sustainable Schools Project (Shelburne Farms)
- A Trail to Every Classroom (Appalachian National Scenic Trail and Appalachian Trail Conservancy)
- The Upper Valley Region of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation
- The Community Mapping Project (CMaP) (Orton Family Foundation; founding member through 2005)
